Name That Tune 3.18

Yes, you’ve noticed … it’s “Keep hubby away from the computer” week and I’m a couple of days late already with the next installment of Name That Tune. I will now try and remedy this as my wife sleeps in the living room in the firm belief that I am doing my taxes….

This weeks offerings are two “patriotic” songs, one should be as easily recognisable by a Brit as the second by an American. You might be forgiven that the same band plays both songs, but that’s not true… well… not quite

Last week we had a look at two very different songs from female artists. The first was Macy Gray – I Try, and second we had Sissy Spacek‘s Version of “Coalminers Daughter“, originally by Loretta Lynn…

Well done Renfield, Debi, Dan, Alan N., Andy, Mike Blue, Mike daddyo, Todd and Trish, Anonymous (I will try and figure this out, think its Elvisaaron)

The table

63 – Alan Novich 55 – Trish & Todd 42 – Dan 4 – Ellie
60 – Elvisaaron 48 – Mike (mscho) 22 – Renfield 4 – Lynda
57 – Andy 46 – Mike (daddyo) 9 – Debi 4 – duncanw

I always enjoyed keith emerson’s work to a point. I could never take a whole lot of it at once, but in small doses, it’s quite elegant. When with the Nice, he did America, the Leonard Bernstein version from West Side Story (some dvorak in there as well) and with ELP I am not certain what this is except something, and excerpt as they called it from Brain Salad Surgery, probably Jerusalem. I don’t know why this is patriotic to a Brit but I’m gonna find out.
