Sit back in horror as “Dave Goes Dizzer” (German Slang for Disco) on the first clip in this weeks edition of “Name That Tune”. And having at last realised that it is not always easy for a Brit to play this game with a bunch of Americans, I have checked todays tunes on Billboard to see what kind of impression they made on the american charts.
So here goes: This first song reached no.s 33, 3, 23, 5 on various Billboard charts. Do you recognise this?
For the second clip, I think you will need a bit of help, as this song charted neither in the USA nor in England, but got to no. 12 in Germany in 1972. This legendary Dutch band did though have a huge hit with “Venus”, that got to no. 1 in the USA in 1969/70, a cover of which was Bananarama’s greatest hit 16 years later. The lovely lead singer of the band unfortunately passed away in 2006
Last Week:
The Moody Blues : Go Now (forget “Knights in White Satin”, this was the Moody Blues at their best…)
Van Halen : Running With The Devil
Points were reaped in by the following players (well done to you all)
Mike (daddyo), Renfield, Todd and Trish, Alan Novich, Dan, Andy, Mike (mscho), Elvisaaron.
Leaves the table looking something like this:

42 – Elvisaaron, 40 – Trish and Todd,
32 – Mike (mscho), 28- Mike (daddyo),
26 – Dan, 12 – Renfield, 7 – Debi, 4 – Ellie, Lynda, duncanw
Hi Dave First song is “I Wanna Dance Wit’Choo (Doo Dat Dance Part 1)” by Disco-Tex & The Sex-O-Lettes. Second song is “Inkpot” by The Shocking Blue.
Dan
No idea on the first one LOL…is the second one Inkpot by Shocking Blue?
SHOCKING BLUE OF COURSE FOR THE GROUP…
THAT’S ALL I GOT
1. No clue
2. Shocking Blue – Inkpot
i wanna dance with choo , and inkpot by shocking blue.
1. I must have heard this song before, but apparently i blocked it out of my mind. It sounds like All Musci Guide’s clip of I Wanna Dance Wit’ Choo by Disco tex & The Sex-O-Lettes
2. The only Shocking Blue song I know besides Venus is Long And Lonesome Road, but the title of this one seems to be Inkpot
Ok here we go to the Disco era, Clip #1 is “I Wanna Dance Wit Choo” by the Sex O Lettes featuring the flamboyant, Sir Monti Rock.
Clip#2 is Shocking Blue a group from I believe Amsterdam doing the classic tune
“Inkpot”. Just a side note they also did “VENUS” in the late 60′s which was covered by BANANARAMA in the 80′s
Once again kudos to ya Dave, I have been enjoying these trips down memory lane.
